Play is an extension of Particle Studio, our R&D and Sustainability Lab, creating homeware and commercial use product and materials from recycled content. Our sources range from industrial and post-consumer manufacturing waste materials, diverting waste from landfills and the environment.

The Process

20 billion shoes are produced annually, resulting in industrial waste from off-cuttings and extraneous materials. The waste from a single shoe can take up to 1,000 years to decompose in landfills.

Step (01)

Collect Your Industrial Waste (EDPM, EVA)

With a focus on recycling footwear waste, EDPM, EVA, and cork, Particle will take the raw goods and curate custom color formulations with the brand.

Step (02)

Grind and Re-Manufacture

The raw material is ground up, with a specific control on the size of the granule to achieve the desired look. The raw goods then go through manufacturing.

Step (03)

Design Bespoke Branded Material Collaboration

Once ground up, the material is pressed and cut to the desired sizing per the project. Every sheet is unique. And we can also work on custom moulds for 3D objects such as trays, vases, or curved pedestals.

Our mission at Particle is to repurpose post-consumer and post-industrial waste materials into architecturally inspired objects and furniture, creating a space that fosters both solitude and communal gathering.
